Lower Drug Costs Now
Prescription drug corporations can set and raise prices as high as they want, hitting Medicaid budgets hard, raising health plan premiums and squeezing families’ pocketbooks. It’s not fair to hold anyone’s health hostage to drug company profits.
That’s why the House of Representatives has introduced H.R. 3, the Lower Drug Costs Now Act, to offer a realistic solution to this problem.
Here are some important ways this legislation would help:
- It puts the federal government on our side, giving it the power to negotiate directly with prescription drug corporations for lower prices for all of us.
- It will lower drug prices, including for insulin, whether you have a health plan through your job, the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Medicare or other insurance.
- It limits the negotiated prices of prescription drugs to the average of what other countries — Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and the U.K. — are paying for the same drugs.
Prescription drug corporations will fight hard to keep their power to set prices as high as they want and to raise them any time they want. We can’t let them win.
Your member of Congress needs to hear from you. Tell your representative to strengthen and pass the Lower Drug Costs Now Act (H.R. 3).
