Uber and Lyft are spending millions of dollars on a ballot initiative—Proposition 1—to try to overturn commonsense regulations passed by the Austin City Council—like fingerprinting and background checks for drivers and data reporting—that will keep passengers safe and follow along the same rules that all for-hire drivers in Austin have to abide by.

If Prop 1 passes, it would set a dangerous precedent for corporations to come in and control Austin’s future and make it harder for average working people to share in the economic success of our thriving city.
