Vote for Wanda Simmons on Row C - the Working Families Party line - on November 7th!

Moving Our Community Forward

Wanda Simmons has had enough. She’s had enough of the dysfunction and decay that stops Bridgeport from achieving its potential. As city councilwoman, Wanda will work hard to nurture a sense of community in our city by revitalizing the local economy, investing in our families, and inspiring meaningful public engagement. Her deep commitment to public service, passion for Bridgeport, and personal grit are exactly the kind of qualities we need on Bridgeport’s City Council.

Wanda Simmons laid roots in Bridgeport in 1978 and has been fighting to protect our city, students, and military veterans ever since. When the Bridgeport Board of Education proposed to cut busing, she led the campaign that kept children on the buses. When our district couldn’t provide essential school materials, she raised the money to buy supplies for 450 kids. When the East End Veterans Post 140 was being foreclosed, she fundraised to help stop the foreclosure. When budget cuts and other bad policies set our community back, she moves us forward.

A parent leader and loving mother, Wanda can usually be found holding city government accountable as an active member of the East End Community Council, East End NRZ, and Greater Bridgeport NAACP’s Education Committee.

Wanda will work to:

  • Invest in our public schools to give our students the opportunities they need and deserve
  • Establish community-centered policing, keeping our streets safe and our police accountable to the people they serve
  • Rebuild Pleasure Beach Bridge, revitalizing the East End community with living wage jobs and restoring a historical landmark
  • Develop programs that foster small business growth by converting vacant and blighted lots, and fighting for a living wage ordinance
  • Renovate the Newfield Branch Library

On Tuesday, November 7th, vote for Wanda Simmons for East End District #139 on Row C - the Working Families Party line.
