We Need To Disrupt What We Love
Traditionally, climate activists have disrupted the bad guys, people who are doing bad things like building pipelines or financing them, in order to force them to mend their ways. It feels the right thing to do.
Recently, though, Extinction Rebellion NYC (and groups we admire) have taken on a counter-intuitive strategy: we have started disrupting what we love, like art, tennis tournaments, and counterculture festivals. We have found these surprisingly more effective, so we want to do more of them, and organize them in very public ways. We did a few calls (recording here) where we discussed this strategy, and now we invite you to an in-person training on November 17 to go over the details of actions on November 18th and 19th that will follow this strategy.
