XR Derby Climate Café Organising
We need people to help plan and prepare beforehand.
We need people to help on the day.
If you can't do the day itself - we still need you!
Can you help us with our first Climate Café / outreach session on Saturday 1st July (12noon to 3pm)? We will be in the Thrivemind space on Irongate. At the same time the Celebrate Sadler Gate event will be happening. Sadler Gate is a stone's throw around the corner and it will be very busy that day!
Background
XR Derby are planning on holding regular Climate Cafés on Saturdays at Thrivemind in the centre of Derby (on Irongate - the old Foulds music shop). The proposal is to do this once a month on a Saturday for between 3 and 4 hours.
Ideas included:
- Climate Café (we could checkout the Climate Café movement for more ideas)
- Use the outreach survey boards to attract people in
- Run Climate Fresk workshops (one of us become a facilitator?) - could link nicely as a next step on from the survey boards.
- Provide a library of climate / activism etc books
- Posters and art outside to get engagement
- Engaging with all the other groups who use Thrivemind
Building community and growing the movement is so vital to addressing the crises.
To make this happen, we will need people who can volunteer time (one Saturday a month for 3 to 4 hours, plus time to plan, prepare, etc) on a semi-regular basis. So the first step is to find out who would be willing to help with this endeavour.
