It’s 2021. XRUK has been in rebellion demanding urgent action on the climate and ecological crisis for three years. But our government is still failing to keep us safe, while we cross deadly tipping points in the breakdown of our climate and biodiversity loss accelerates.

Banks and other financial institutions continue to fund fossil fuel projects and destructive industries. Meanwhile, the Government continues to pour our taxes into fossil fuel subsidies, corporate bailouts of polluting industries and HS2, an aviation shuttle service that is destroying nature. It allows tax dodging at a massive scale, then fails to invest in the public services we need to prepare us for the present crisis and those to come.

We plan to organise tax and debt strikes to highlight the capture of our democracy to economic forces that are unwilling or unable to tackle the climate and ecological crisis and other emergencies.
