TODAY IS THE DAY.
Neo-Nazis, Klansmen and other white supremacists are planning a sequel to last year’s Charlottesville rallies on August 12-- and they’re doing it here in DC.
We're planning a Still Here, Still Strong rally and multiple actions in response, which will send a message that-- in spite of all the efforts of white supremacy, generation after generation, to destroy us as indigenous, Black, queer, Muslim, Jewish, LatinX, Asian, femme, immigrant, disabled, and poor people-- we are still alive, we are still here, and the resilience and solidarity we’ve built has made us stronger than ever.
As a coalition of grassroots organizations making this happen with our own funds, we need support from our community. Can you donate today to support our Still Here, Still Strong rally on August 12?
Our donation to our coalition will go towards:
- Paying local DC artists to create banners, posters, and other art to promote the rally and displaying at the event
- Providing a modest stipend to the speakers and performers who will be representing their marginalized communities on stage, because we value paying people for their labor
- Creating a legal fund to support anyone who needs it
- Paying for food, water and therapeutic healing in safe spaces for people throughout DC
- Covering costs of the permit, stage, sound and other logistics
It’s important to note that this rally is a mobilizing moment, but reacting to hate is not the central goal of our work. While we gather to celebrate identities that are the most oppressed and erased, here on occupied Piscataway territory, we do so with the knowledge that white supremacy will not be abolished by simply sending the Unite the Right 2 attendees out of town.
The State itself has been a source of violence and oppression, including carrying out Native genocide, enslaving Black and Indigenous People, and harming immigrants, refugees, Jews, women, people of color, and others. It must be held accountable. By creating this coalition, we’re also creating a space for our movements to establish relationships with one another, learn from each other’s experiences, acknowledge and dismantle oppression within our spaces, and build a more loving, more powerful community in DC.
Invest now in our rally and actions to show we’re Still Here, Still Strong on August 12-- and every day-- as we build a long-term movement that can create the world we all deserve to live in.
