Anpetu Waste. Today, I reach out with a heavy heart but also with hope, knowing the strength and generosity of our community.
A critical situation has arisen within our Lakota community that requires urgent attention. A children’s home, which provides shelter and care for seven Native children, has suffered severe roof damage due to the recent snowstorms. Without immediate repairs, these children face the risk of being displaced and placed into state custody.
We have the workers ready to restore the roof, but we urgently need $7,000 to cover the costs of materials and complete the repairs in time. This is not just about fixing a roof—it’s about keeping these children in a stable, loving environment where they belong.
As you know, we only reach out to our supporters under the most severe circumstances. In fact, this is only our third request in the past 16 months. At the Red Road Institute and the Indigenous Peoples Movement, we stand by our commitment that 100% of donations go directly to supporting our community.
Your contribution—no matter the size—will make an immediate and meaningful difference in keeping these children safe in their home.
Together, we can ensure they remain where they are loved and cared for. Thank you for standing with us in this urgent time of need.
