On September 27th, climate activists, neighbors, and concerned citizens are assembling for a day of strike and non-violent civil disobedience on behalf of life itself. We have reports of police making unprovoked and indiscriminate arrests to suppress the protest -- 20 total. We are working to get them all out, but we need your help. UPDATE: All but 1 are out! We are being told the last person will have to wait until Sunday but we will keep working nonstop until they are released too. Funds still needed for legal defense.
The science is clear. The planet is steadily warming as carbon is released unabated into our atmosphere. Ice caps are melting, ecosystems are collapsing, and natural disasters are becoming more and more common.
Meanwhile, in the shadow of this unprecedented threat to life on earth, the rich and powerful continue business as usual, upholding the status quo of the economic system that depends on the unlimited and unsustainable use of our planet’s resources. Our goal is to stand against those who wish to ignore the evidence and continue business as usual.
You can help by supporting those who put their bodies on the line. By helping lift the burden of bail you’re contributing an essential part of what will make the strike a success. Often, those who risk arrest cannot afford bail, so these donations will be the lifeblood of the movement.
Any amount, even $1, will show strikers that the community has their backs. While not everyone can risk bodily harm and detainment due to non-violent civil disobedience, those who are able can extend monetary support as a way to say, “we support you and your mission to disrupt business as usual on behalf of life itself. Thank you.”
Any amount not used for bailing and legal defense for this demo will go to the Solidarity Fund to help the next protesters arrested fighting for justice.
