We are a group campaigning to stop the expansion of Liverpool John Lennon airport. We are in a Climate Emergency and no regional airport should be expanded, given the high contibiution of aviation to CO2 emissions.
In Liverpool, airport owners Peel have put forward a masterplan marking land at Oglet Shore adjacent to the airport as part of the expansion. The Liverpool City Council is so far supportive of the expansion and approved the Local Plan that removes greenbelt status to that land, paving the way for expansion.
Already, the airport is putting forward planning application to use the land. If granted, it will be impossible to ever reverse this land grab.
Local people already have little access to green spaces and live in a polluted area. Local wildlife and their habitat are being threatened. Airport jobs are not guaranteed and often are precarious, low pay and don't go to local people.
We are raising money to help our campaign stop the expansion. Funds will be used towards printing and creating new materials, for props for protests and actions and to explore legal challenges to the plans at the appropriate times. Please help us raise funds to do so and stop the expansion.
