Housing Rights Committee of San Francisco is on a mission to empower tenants and prevent displacement in our city.
We offer free counseling for all tenants in SF, including rent-controlled units and public and Section 8 housing. We advocate for tenants, sponsor workshops and community meetings, and organize entire buildings to fight against displacement and evictions.
Since our formation in 1979, financial support from community members has been essential to our work as activists, organizers, community educators, and counselors for tenants in San Francisco. Our movement is best equipped to win when we are funded by our base--and that means you! Please consider making a monthly recurring donation, we love our Monthly Tenant Power Supporters!
Housing Rights Committee went through a huge growth spurt in 2022-23 as our counseling and organizing teams took on the rising tide of pandemic rent debt issues, illegal evictions, landlord harassment, and Black displacement. This expansion was made possible in large part by donations from individuals. All donations is tax-deductible. Your continued support vitally enables us to to keep innovating and expanding our tenant services and organizing power!
