THIS OCTOBER a delegation of working class tenants and homeless New Yorkers have been invited to Vienna, Austria to study the City's historic social housing program.
We will meet with labor union organizers, City Planners, tenants' unions, and more: those who are working to sustain and expand the city's social housing stock -- but also those who are fighting against the racism, exclusion, and white supremacy that is present in the system.
Our delegation includes:
- Winsome Pendergrass, a domestic worker and tenant organizer who joined the the housing justice movement when she was evicted in 2018.
- Fannie Lou Dianne, a formerly homeless organizer who is fighting source of income discrimination and housing injustice -- in particular, how it impacts Black women.
- Dorca Reynoso, an unregulated renter who is facing a 100% rent hike in Washington Heights.
We will also be joined by New York State organizers who are working to expand social housing in New York.
Help us cover the costs of this historic delegation. Any amount counts! This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, help us make the most of it!
