On March 3, a massive tornado devastated the rural community of Beauregard in Lee County, killing at least 23 people including 3 children.
Death tolls like this are rare in sparsely populated rural areas and it's a testament to just how widespread the damage is.
A full recovery will take years.
We know all too well that once the news cameras leave, this rural community will be forgotten like so many others and small local nonprofits, churches, and individuals will bear the brunt of the long-term recovery efforts.
Hometown Action is committed to the long-term recovery through the creation of the Rural Disaster Recovery Network being led by members on-the-ground in Lee County. Your donation will allow us to purchase needed supplies, deploy skilled volunteers, support other local nonprofits, and grow the network for future disaster recovery responses.
