This fundraiser has been set up to support the Dreamer Moms, also known as Deported Mothers in Tijuana, Mexico. They are a group of mothers that meet regularly from various cities in Mexico as they have built a support system and engage in advocacy for immigrant rights.
The majority of deported mothers have been victims of sexual assault and are currently in the process of legal cases in hopes of being able to return to the United States. Not all the mothers have the support or funds to be able to begin their cases.
Deported mothers are separated from their children, family, and friends who are in the United States. Some of them have not seen their loved ones for years.
Nonetheless, they are an admirable community and support group that has been advocating for immigrant rights and human rights in Tijuana, Mexico and at the Mexico-US border for years.
They organize rallies, actions, protests, phone banks, and vigils to bring light to the injustice that surrounds their lives and those of their loved ones across the border.
The Dreamer Moms are the Original Dreamers and they are determined to always support dreamers in the U.S. as well. Whenever there is an attack on DACA, TPS, and the Dream Act, then they make sure to voice their support and even organize phone banks to call on Congress to stand up for the immigrant community.
Our goal is to raise $10,000 for these deported mothers in Tijuana, Mexico because if we don't support them, then they have little to no other resources to turn to. These amazing women and leaders have suffered for years and still they wake up every day and ask those of us in the U.S. how we are doing. They reach out to see if they can support us in any way possible. You will find them out in the streets of Tijuana at the border advocating for us every time.
We don't want to see another deported mother have to miss out on the opportunity to be reunited with family because they cannot afford to fund their case. We want to alleviate some of the stressors of how they will make it by day by day. We ask for your support. Any amount you are able to donate is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
