In January 2021, the League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania launched its Equity Initiative, and with it a commitment to engaging our members, 33 local Leagues, and over 150 Members at Large in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) work.
DEI does not exist separately from the core mission and work of LWVPA. It is integral to our work, including defending democracy and voter engagement. Understanding of bias, difference, and racism builds our capacity to be inclusive, connected, and welcoming of new partnerships and innovative ideas.
The Equity Initiative provides League members with monthly education sessions and discussion groups on compelling topics like immigration, disability rights, LGBTQIA+ issues, and more. Most importantly, the Equity Initiative provides League members with tools to build a more welcoming and inclusive organization.
