The Vinguard’s mission is to provide tools, resources, and education to change the culture in the wine industry to empower women and gender non-conforming workers and foster new transparent power structures built on democratic principles and diverse representation that prioritize equity belonging, diversity, and justice.
Most (over 90%) of funds raised go towards stipends for Vinguard staff and consultants. We believe in paying everyone who helps move our work forward a fair wage. This includes those who contribute to WINeFare, The Wine Industry Equity Pledge, and our forums. We also work with Diversity, Equity, and Justice, and marketing and social media professionals so that we can continue to educate ourselves and our community.
We are currently raising funds to compensate those who are working so hard to help us realize our mission.
Our work in 2021 included:
WINeFare: Bottles Without Borders, www.winefaresf.com
The Wine Industry Equity Pledge (WINE Pledge, www.winepledge.com
Water Responsible Wine Production with Steve Matthiasson and Charle Toledo
For 2022, we are hoping to begin work on the WIne Industry Workplace Handbook, which will build off the WINE Pledge and incorporate a worker-focused employee handbook. This will require hiring many wine professionals, mental health, JEDI, human resources, and legal consultants. PLEASE SUPPORT US AS MUCH AS YOU CAN. With much gratitude, The Vinguard
