Climate Justice UBC is a student-led political climate action group that aims to use the power of collective action to promote climate justice. As part of the global divestment movement, we aim to hold UBC accountable to its students and faculty, who voted overwhelmingly in favour of divestment in two University-wide referendums, by pushing UBC to divest from fossil fuels and thereby withdraw support from an industry responsible for climate change. Through our campaigns, we advocate for government action on climate policy, political engagement, institutional climate leadership, environmental justice, and indigenous sovereignty, and aspire to question the patriarchal, capitalist, and colonial system that perpetuates climate inaction and ensures that some communities disproportionately feel both the negative impacts of resource extraction industries, and those of climate change.
