CSU-AAUP’s mission is to represent the interests of university faculty while advancing academic freedom and shared governance to ensure higher education’s contribution to the greater good.

CSU-AAUP believes quality public higher education should be made affordable and accessible to all individuals who want to pursue a degree at an institution of higher learning. We see higher education as an essential roadway to developing students’ abilities to think critically and become more engaged citizens of their communities.

CSU-AAUP’s goals are to protect quality public higher education for the benefit of future generations of Connecticut residents and for the good of our country. We are committed to protecting academic freedom and shared governance wherever and however they are threatened. We recognize that tenure goes hand-in-hand with academic freedom and must be equally defended to ensure we continue to move toward a fair and just society.
