Education Advocates

EDUCATION ADVOCATES PROGRAM

Your Role as an Education Advocate

Signing up to be an Education Advocate with MNEA means you will be the connection to your elected officials on the issue. You will become a contact person and voice for public education back at home. You don't have to be an expert on legislation or all the issues. Because you are a public education employee, and your representative needs to know about your public education experience, you ARE an Education Advocate!

In recent years, public education has seen unprecedented threats including:

  • Loss of TENURE

  • More cuts to SCHOOL FUNDING

  • Limiting our constitutional right to COLLECTIVE BARGAINING

  • Banning PAYROLL DEDUCTION for dues and PAC

  • MERIT PAY based on student test scores

  • PSRS rollbacks

  • Expanding CHARTER SCHOOLS statewide with no accountability

To learn more about how to get involved with MNEA and how to become your own best advocate, contact MNEA Political Director, Mark Jones, at Mark.Jones@mnea.org or (573) 644-9609.
