Fellowship of Reconciliation - USA
The Fellowship of Reconciliation was founded in 1914 in Europe and 1915 in the United States to support conscientious objection to war. We are rooted in the steadfast belief that war is an abomination in the eyes of God and affirm the right of belief, conscience, and religion of all persons to refuse to participate in war.
FOR-USA’s mission is to organize, train, and grow a diverse movement that welcomes all people of conscience to end structures of violence and war and create peace through the transformative power of nonviolence. Throughout history, our members have and continue to include A.J. Muste, Jane Adams, Martin Luther King Jr., Dorothy Day, Dorothy Cotton, Bayard Rustin, Rabbi Arthur Wascow, James Lawson, and many more.
