Make Polluters Pay
We think that it’s time to Make Polluters Pay for their pollution.
The fossil fuel industry has known for decades that the pollution from their products was making a mess of our atmosphere, but instead of warning the public, they covered up the science and lobbied against climate action, all so they could make record profits.
Now, we’re left to deal with the increasing impacts of the climate crisis: impacts that could cost the nation trillions of dollars over the coming years.
We want polluters to pay their fair share of dealing with the crisis they helped create.
The Polluters Pay Climate Fund would require big polluters to pay a fee based on their share of historic carbon pollution that’s been emitted into the atmosphere. The money would then be used to deal with the impacts of climate change and costs of transitioning to a clean energy future. We can build back better. But, in order to do that, we need to make polluters pay.
