Parkdale community members are alarmed with the false promises that Skale Developments has made to the community in regard to their development application at 1375 Queen Street West. Skale Developments made three promises that they would develop affordable housing at the 1375 Queen Street West development. Though they made these promises, as of September 2022, they told the City Planner on the file that they will not be developing affordable units. The Justice for Queen and Close Community Coalition says NO to this development unless Skale Developments 1) follow through on their promises to provide affordable housing, with a minimum of 15 affordable units (30%), and 2) clean up any contamination left behind from the gas station that was previously there. 90% of South Parkdale is composed of renters. There is a need for affordable rental units in Parkdale and it is a human right to live on land that is contamination free and safe. Do not skale back on affordable and safe housing.
