Green America and Environmental Investigation Agency are launching a joint action to hold Kroger accountable for its massive climate emissions from refrigerants.
Kroger is one of the largest supermarket chains in the US but is dragging its feet on refrigerants. Competitors like Aldi and Target are taking steps to move their stores to refrigerants with low Global Warming Potential, but Kroger is not, even though refrigerants represent over 60% of Kroger’s direct climate emissions.
On June 23rd, Kroger shareholders will vote on a motion to create a plan to move off of HFC refrigerants at its stores.
