Postcards and Pale Ale

Iowa City, IA

IT ALL STARTED WHEN...

After the Women's March, the largest protest in human history, PPA founder Kurt Friese was energized and wanted to take action.  So he figured he'd get a couple friends together, tip back a couple pints and write some postcards to our elected officials.  If nothing else, it'd be cathartic.

350 people showed up, and Postcards and Pale Ale was born.

That first gathering made local news on TV and in print, and soon the single event became an ad hoc organization, now over 800 strong in Johnson County, Iowa, with the goal of helping people be more active in their government and recognize that being a citizen is about a lot more than voting and paying taxes.

Now the large gatherings happen on the last Friday of each month at The Iowa City Brewlab, with lots of smaller ones in between, as we endeavor to speak truth to power, seek justice & liberty, and #RiseUp.
