The Public Power NY Coalition is a collection of grassroots organizations, non-profits and labor groups across New York focused on the shared goal of clean, renewable, affordable, accessible and democratically-controlled public power in New York State. We do not believe that basic needs such as water, power, and heating should be controlled by private companies with little oversight. The Public Power NY Coalition was formed to offer an urgent alternative. Energy insecurity disproportionately affects low-income people, people of color and immigrants. Public Power isn’t just an economic and environmental issue; it’s a social justice imperative.
