State Representative Sami Scheetz is an Iowa native and Washington High School alum. The son of Hala and Raphael Scheetz, Sami is a community organizer and small business owner based in Cedar Rapids. He has spent the last 10 years working to elect Democrats across the country. Sami’s mother immigrated to the United States from Damascus, Syria, and his father was raised in a hard working, blue-collar household. Their work-ethic and determination serves both as a blueprint for Sami’s success and the embodiment of the community he represents today.
