SCOPE at Texas State
Student Community of Progressive Empowerment (SCOPE) is an organization--the first of its kind on campus--made up of students that are interested in advocating for the rights of all immigrants.
We believe in support, success and education equity for all, regardless of immigration status or any other aspect of a person’s background. Members of SCOPE are diverse: we range from being immigrants, to children of immigrants, to allies of the immigrant movement.
We welcome people from all over, whether it is students, staff/faculty, or community members from different backgrounds. Immigration is not just a Mexican or Latinx issue; immigration is an issue that impacts every single one of us-- we have immigrant classmates, immigrant educators, immigrant neighbors, etc. Within the immigrant community, we also have many intersecting identities: we have undocumented Asian-Pacific Islander (API) immigrants, as well as undocublack and undocumented trans/queer (LGBTQIA+) immigrants. Regardless of their identity or background, SCOPE believes everyone should be able to live with the respect and dignity we all deserve.
