Stop Sprawl Durham
Stop Sprawl Durham exists to push back against urban boundary expansions and new sprawl onto prime farmland, vulnerable watersheds, and natural heritage areas.
We also translate land-use planning jargon to regular English.
Durham Region has many undeveloped properties that have already been zoned for development. We want to see Durham Region grow by developing these existing greenfield areas (DGAs) and by adding gentle density like garden suites, townhomes and mid-rise apartments near transit in areas that are already built up (BUAs).
Stop Sprawl Durham is a non-partisan volunteer coalition, supported by the Yours to Protect initiative, that includes members of EANAP, Land Over Landings, Blue Dot Whitby and unaffiliated local volunteers.
