Mission Statement: WA State Educators United (WSEU) is a group, like the environment we aim for in our schools, where educators are safe from all forms of oppression. Any member of the group exhibiting or engaging in any racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, anti-immigrant, anti-Muslim or any other type of oppressive behavior or advocating for groups, referendums, policies, or anything promoting any form of oppression or discrimination is not welcome in WSEU. The admin team reserves the right to remove them from the group.

We will advocate for and stand in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter at School movement. We believe that every child without exception, including undocumented ones, deserves a high-quality, free, public education with wrap-around services to meet the needs of the whole child. Every educator should be treated and compensated fairly for the invaluable role they play in the communities they serve. Educators have the right to promote and defend democratic, social justice unions and caucuses and to organize alongside grassroots networks and community organizations.

WSEU is pro-union and we ultimately want to strengthen our unions through further democratizing them from both the inside and the outside, including organizing with parents, communities, and any educators who have yet to join our union. This overarching vision is captured in the slogan: “Public Schools Students and Educators Deserve”.
