Water for Rivers
[city],
Water for the Rivers is a grass-roots campaign group based in New South Wales.
We are campaigning to stop the corporate pumps and revive the Murray Darling Basin, the Darling river system and bring life back to the rivers.
Communities along the river system are being placed on undrinkable bore water, after rivers have been bled dry. Yet large cotton farms in the north-west are green and lush.
The state governments and the Murray Darling Basin Authority Plan are killing the rivers: giving water to big cotton farmers and big irrigators. Communities, fish and the ecological life of the rivers are suffering.
We've protested the NSW Water Ministry, we are supporting water to communities, we are organising political, cultural action to win Water for the Rivers!
We helped with the Yaama Ngunna Baaka Corroborree Festival on September-October 2019. With over 300 people from NSW, Victoria, SA visiting Walgett, Brewarrina, Bourke, Wilcannia and Menindee to give solidarity to these forgotten river communities. We have supported the Take Water Off the Market blockade of Wilcannia's bridge by community.
Water for Rivers is inclusive. We are non-partisan (anyone can be involved, from whatever political persuasion), active, democratic, political and determined. People's power can win water for the rivers.
Please help with our campaign! Set up a Water for the Rivers group in your area, talk to us about the next actions we are taking, promote our Call to Action. Donate directly or become a Patreon of the campaign group here https://www.patreon.com/waterforrivers
