Westfield Residents Advocating For Themselves
Our purpose is to provide community education and advocacy for the residents in Westfield, MA impacted by the pollution of our natural resources. Specifically, WRAFT was formed on February 22, 2017 when a group of concerned residents decided to advocate on behalf of themselves and their neighbors regarding the PFAS pollution of the Barnes Aquifer, which supplies water to four of the Westfield's eight municipal wells, several private wells, and three neighboring municipalities. Currently, WRAFT is advocating on behalf of the residents of Westfield for: Voluntary PFAS blood testing, longitudinal biomonitoring, and community public health supports to help recover from decades of water contamination; strengthened zoning ordinances for the Water Resources Protection District / aquifer recharge zone and their enforcement; and reducing the ongoing pollution of our water resources.
