Cover Wigs
Patients have enough to deal with - when they lose their hair due to a medical condition, they shouldn't have to worry about how to pay for a wig if they'd like one.
Wigs can help patients' mental health tremendously as they are navigating life with cancer treatments or alopecia. And that helps their physical health as well.
Wigs are a small but powerful investment in patients' health. Unfortunately, insurance companies aren't required to cover the cost of wigs. You can help change that law to make sure patients get the support they need.
Insurance Committee Chair Napoleon Harris has filed Senate Bill 2573 to require insurance companies cover the cost of wigs for patients with cancer or alopecia. You can use this website to contact your two state legislators and Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and ask them to support the legislation this year. Just put in your home address and the website will look up your state representative and state senator for you -- with a suggested draft of an email. Feel free to edit it anyway you'd like.
Thanks for sharing your opinion with Illinois politicians -- they care and they listen! This is how we can improve things, one step at a time.
