Help Save the Open Public Records Act (OPRA); Tell Governor Murphy to Veto A4045/S2930
Waterspirit's core activities center on advocacy and programming for water, fulfilling our mission to hear the cry of the Earth and the cry of the poor, simultaneously. The public records we discover when supporting environmental justice often contain valuable information that can be used for research, analysis and advocacy efforts. Nonprofits dedicated to water and environmental justice, like Waterspirit, can use this data to support research, inform advocacy campaigns, and make evidence-based recommendations for policy reforms. Nonprofits like ours also use information on water quality impacts to hold polluters accountable and advocate for stronger regulations and push to advance enforcement to protect water and communities.
It is important that Governor Murphy hears from spiritually inspired people of faith that he must veto A4045/S2930 which would prevent transparency of government official activities. The Senate recently advanced A45045/S2930, gutting the Open Public Records Act (OPRA), and it will now land on Governor Murphy's desk. Help us call for Governor Murphy to exert moral high ground in the face of a bipartisan overreach of power over the public whom they were elected to represent. Your voice is vital!
