Tell your MA State Senator: Support the Professional License Protection Act (H.4339)!

The Problem

Right now in Massachusetts, a working person who requires a license to do their job - barber, nurse, mechanic, teacher, social worker, among many others - could have their professional.  LICENSE REVOKED for defaulting on their student loan payments. This is 8% of all student loan borrowers in the state! This would not only take away their livelihood, but their ability to pay their student loans which is completely backwards and toxic.

What YOU and Your Legislators Can Do

“An Act Prohibiting License Revocation for Student Loan Default" has already passed in the MA House! Now it's time to urge your state senator to co-sponsor this bill and support moving it out of the Senate Ways and Means Committee to the floor of the Senate for a favorable vote!

Working people should NOT lose their professional licenses as a consequence of defaulting on their student loans. Especially with the student loan repayment freeze coming to an end shortly, let’s protect the ability of working people with student debt to continue working by passing this common sense bill.
