A Budget For All Delawareans

During the COVID-19 pandemic Delaware was shut down for over two months. This has had a profound impact on our state's economy.

There is predicted to be a $450 million budget shortfall for 2021. Programs that help the elderly and others impacted by the coronavirus could be cut, if we do not take action. We need to work together to make sure that social programs and services providers are not cut to the point that we are sent even further into crisis.

The JFC will have to make decisions on the budget by June 30th. It is important that we start putting pressure on our legislators to make the right decisions for all Delawareans. It is up to us to make sure that legislators are being transparent and accountable.

This means that, on the revenue side, any tax reform needs to not hurt those that have been impacted the most by the pandemic. It means that new revenue streams need to focus on creative solutions that, when taken together, can help cover the shortfall in a responsible way.

Please consider sending this letter to your legislators.
