Act now: Tell EPA to protect Bristol Bay!
Alaska’s Bristol Bay, one of the most diverse and ecologically important areas in the country, is at risk from toxic industrial mining. The proposed Pebble Mine is an irresponsible and controversial project that would threaten the ecosystem, natural resources, cultural values and the economy of this unique Alaskan region. Help protect Bristol Bay by telling the Environmental Protection Agency to preserve this ecosystem.
Bristol Bay, on the coast of southwest Alaska, is a rich and diverse region home to the largest salmon fishery in the WORLD. Indigenous communities have relied upon its waters and natural resources for generations. The richness of Bristol Bay contributes to Alaska’s economy and livelihoods with a thriving commercial and sport fishery valued at $2.2 billion. The proposed copper, gold and molybdenum mine would seriously damage all of these.
The clock is ticking to reject Pebble Mine and preserve Bristol Bay. We need the EPA to use its federal power to protect this region. EPA is nearing the end of a public comment period on whether to finalize its proposal to establish permanent protections for Bristol Bay under the Clean Water Act. Please write a letter today to tell the EPA to veto Pebble Mine.
With just one click, you can help protect all the invaluable benefits Bristol Bay provides to Alaska.
