Support Nomination of Acushnet Cedar Swamp as Area of Critical Environmental Concern!
Acushnet Cedar Swamp was recognized and designated as a National Natural Landmark in 1972, and it is time for the state to recognize this valuable resource as well. It is one of the state’s largest, wildest, and most impenetrable swamps.
The Acushnet Cedar Swamp desperately needs additional protection due to its location, adjacent to a Business Park, which is and will likely continue expanding in the future. If the Acushnet Cedar Swamp were damaged, it is not replaceable.
We have nominated the swamp and land abutting it to be considered an Area of Critical Environmental Concern by the state of Massachusetts, and we need as many residents as possible to lend their support! We hope that you will assist us in protecting and preserving these valuable wetlands.
