The San Marcos City Council has removed a word from the cite and release ordinance that is crucial to it working as intended. The San Marcos Police Officers Association (SMPOA - the local police union) has vocalized that they are in complete opposition to this ordinance and that if passed they will cite and release every offense in town where warnings would typically be given. For example, this means things like warning for speeding will become speeding tickets, This was done under the guise of false premises, logical fallacies and appeal to emotion rather than actual logic. It is time for the people of this city to stand up and tell the city council that it should not bow down to the police, when the council is in charge on this situation.
