APPOINT A SPECIAL PROSECUTOR TO REOPEN TAMIR'S CASE

Please send a letter to Cuyahoga County prosecutor asking him to appoint a special prosecutor to re-open Tamir's case.

At this moment, we continue to push for the reopening of the case by the US Department of Justice as well and our letter to the DOJ can be found and signed here.

We cannot forget, however, that Tamir’s story began here -- in Cleveland. It has been a story of seven years of malfeasance, obstruction, prosecutorial misconduct, and callous political posturing that have left Tamir’s mother, Ms. Samaria Rice, still without justice and the City of Cleveland with an open spiritual wound.

This December, two statutes of limitations will be expiring on the local level: for obstruction of justice and perjury charges against the officers Loehmann and Garmback. Tamir’s Campaign for Justice calls on our greater Cleveland community to come together and demand that Prosecutor O’Malley do what is necessary to re-open Tamir’s case, that is, to appoint a special prosecutor to reconvene a grand jury. New evidence should be presented and the grand jury process should be properly followed since justice was never served under the administration of former Prosecutor Timothy McGinty.

We are resolute in our belief in a child's right to play, the sanctity of human life, and the need to protect civil and human rights. We demand accountability for police impunity, transparency from the justice system as a whole, and an end to anti-Black violence.
