Approve the RF Contract Settlement

In May PSC-represented Research Foundation members at City Tech, LaGuardia and the Graduate Center ratified a new three-year contract. The PSC bargaining team struggled with the decision to accept the settlement, but ultimately decided to do so to prevent delays in members’ salary increases and to maintain the current employee contribution to the health insurance premium. The terms are:

1.        Contract period: 6/1/18 - 6/30/2021

2.        Salary increases: Effective July 1 of each year, a minimum 2% increase  compounded, or $575 per year (prorated at $.32/hour), whichever is greater

3.       Health care premiums: The employee contribution to the health insurance premium will remain at 19% of the applicable premium for the duration of the contract.

4.       All other terms and conditions remain the same.

We are three weeks into the proposed new contract, which began 6/1/2018 and less than two weeks away from the 7/1/2018 date on which the pay raises are scheduled to go into effect. The Research Foundation Board of Directors has not convened to approve the contract settlement and has not set a date for doing so.

This is unacceptable and irresponsible. Please support the people working on your grants—your fellow union members—in calling on the RF Board of Directors to approve the contract settlement immediately!

We need to act now! Send a letter to Gayle Horwitz, Chairperson of the RF Board of Directors, today.
