Waterloo Region: Demand an Arms Embargo Now!
Despite Canadian political leaders voting for an end to arms transfers on March 18, means Canadian weapons and components continue to be exported to Israel under hundreds of permits already approved and without permits via the US.
Parts are being produced for F-35 fighter jets—the most advanced warplane used by Israel to bomb Gaza and Lebanon—in factories all across Canada. There are at least six of these facilities in the Region of Waterloo, all contributing to the F-35 supply chain through the US. Local MPs Valerie Bradford and Bryan May actually toured one of these facilities in February 2023 to see for themselves the production of F-35 fighter jet components.
MPs Bradford (Kitchener South–Hespeler, May (Cambridge), and Bardish Chagger (Waterloo)—three of five MPs in the region—have yet to sign on to support an arms embargo on Israel. This has to change. Tell your MP you will not vote for any political party that does not stand up for the rights of Palestinians.
If you're in the Kitchener Centre (MP Mike Morrice) or Kitchener–Conestoga (MP Tim Louis) riding, you can still send a letter encouraging them to keep taking action, or sign up for our mailing list here.
