Ask Congress to Invest More in all Levels of Education!

The House of Representatives has introduced, and will be debating, an education funding bill that, among several drastic cuts to early education, K-12, and higher education.

  1. Cuts 80 percent of funding to Title I schools- those serving our neediest students

  2. Eliminates teacher preparation programs, including those that support diversifying the teacher workforce

  3. Eliminates funding for English Language Acquisition grants

  4. Eliminates both Federal Work Study (FWS) and the Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)

The Senate version of the bill is considerably better but not ideal. It:

  1. Increases funding for Title I schools by one percent

  2. Level funds teacher preparation programs

  3. Slightly increases funding for English Language Acquisition grants

  4. Cuts both FWS and SEOG by $10 million each

Congress needs to hear from YOU that we need to invest MORE in all levels of education!
