I-35 from SH71 to SH45 through south Austin defines many communities and the daily experiences of the people across the Austin region. It’s dangerous and functions poorly, but TxDOT Austin has significant funding to fix it.

TxDOT Austin has published a proposed highway design (shown in the image above), including a radical highway expansion that’s even wider than was proposed just a year ago and which will worsen traffic and safety for those pushed out to Austin’s outer areas. TxDOT must do better and consider a more equitable, safe, efficient option than what has been currently proposed.

It’s crucial that you speak up and let TxDOT know that safety must come first and that the highway must not be widened.
