The community was clear: it's time to address speeding.
As anyone that attended Thursday nights meeting can confirm, the community showed up and they reiterated what we've long known. People want a Lake Washington Boulevard Park where they aren't afraid that a dangerous speeding driver will crash into them or their loved ones. Many community members shared their personal experience with crashes on the boulevard either as individuals impacted personally or as witness and first responders to gruesome crashes in front of their homes.
We heard loud and clear that the community is in support of proven treatments like speed humps, curb bulbs, and pedestrian crossing improvements. It's now time for Seattle leaders to listen to the community and build the Lake Washington Boulevard Park project without further delay.
