BMWED RRB Budget Cuts

The House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies recently released their proposed funding for Fiscal Year 2025, which includes a whopping 21 percent cut to the Railroad Retirement Board’s (RRB) administrative budget.

These proposed funding cuts steal money from railroaders and do not save “John Q. Taxpayer” any money. The RRB’s administrative budget is financed by payroll taxes paid by rail workers and rail employers. Funding is appropriated from the RRB Trust Funds and not from the U.S. Treasury’s general fund.

Railroaders and rail carriers fund the RRB, and we should be able to use that money—our money—to strengthen our retirement system, not have it undercut by politicians.

Send an email to your member of Congress now and demand they fund the Railroad Retirement Board and vote against these disastrous budget cuts.
