BUDGET for CLIMATE JUSTICE NOW!
The City of Richmond declared a state of Climate Emergency in 2021, but Mayor Stoney’s new budget invests millions in gas infrastructure, new internal combustion vehicles, and outdated HVAC systems, while failing to build any renewables. We know that every impact of climate change from heat, to flooding, to air quality compounds existing racial and economic inequality in our city.
Fortunately, a coalition of local environmental groups (including XR Richmond, but with heavy lifting by Sierra Club) have done a deep dive on this budget, and made a host of actionable recommendations that can cut emissions NOW, and reduce energy demand for decades to come.
Now we need YOU to call on our representatives to take CLIMATE ACTION NOW, and pass a budget that puts Richmond's money where its mouth is.
