It's time! The $1.8 trillion student debt crisis is deeply impacting 45 million U.S. borrowers. People of color and first generation students are carrying the largest student debt burden and for many, there is no way out. President Biden has called on Miguel Cardona, Secretary of Education, to assess the possibility of student debt cancellation via executive order. We know this can be done. In fact, the previous administration already utilized this authority. Research demonstrates that cancelling student debt will add between $86 & $104 billion to the GDP and over ten years, would add over $863 billion to the GDP. The economic benefits are clear and the time is now to cancel student debt!
