House Bill 1214 will allow sending children in foster care to "boarding schools." Children in foster care must live in safe, stable, and nurturing homes. Being removed from their home can be potentially traumatic for a child, making the need for our child welfare system to be actively working against re-traumatization. Institutionalizing children already in foster care in boarding schools will only expose them to re-traumatization.
