Our state representatives should be working on behalf of the people, not corporations. While Assembly Bill 20 does not completely eliminate corporate influence in politics (see: Citizens United and SuperPACS), it prohibits corporations from directly contributing to candidates for state and local office in California, and prohibits candidates from accepting those contributions. In passing this bill, California would join 22 other states who already ban these contributions.
