Tell Chicago City Council: Vote YES to Ceasefire Resolution this Weds, Jan 31st!

It’s been three and a half months and Israel’s unrelenting airstrikes and shelling on Palestinian civilians in Gaza has not let up. Over 26,000 Palestinians have been killed, the vast majority being children and women. 60,000 Palestinians in Gaza have been injured, disfigured, and disabled since Oct. 7th.

Why are our tax dollars funding killing and oppression in Palestine instead of funding our education systems, public transit, healthcare systems here, and more? We demand there be no more murder in our names.

This Wednesday, January 31st, we call on the City of Chicago to do its part by calling for a ceasefire. Recent polls show that 76% of Democrats want a ceasefire. As a democratic and progressive city, Chicago should be at the forefront of calling for a ceasefire. We have the power to create change and save lives.

Alders Daniel La Spata and Rossana Rodriguez-Sanchez's Uniting for Peace Resolution (SR2023-0006422) calls for an immediate and sustained ceasefire in Gaza, allowing in humanitarian aid, and urges President Biden to facilitate the end of the genocide in Palestine and find solutions for a lasting peace in the region. Use this tool to send an email to the City Council to urge them to support the resolution ahead of the vote taking place this week on Wednesday, January 31st.
